About

In a world where the word “artist” holds a negative connotation – typically implying a person who is arrogant, believes their work is going to change the world, and dresses as though their clothing is sponsored by their local head shop – one tall goofy man will show them that art can be…..FUN! (My guess is that the tall goofy man is Ryan Zlomek)

As some artists are proud of their ability to progress in an ever changing world I’m quite happy producing work that harnesses the same childish energy that I had in middle school. I have been actively studying filmmaking (primarily animation, documentary, and video art) since 2005 when I started my sophomore year of college at Binghamton University. I did my best to absorb the Avant-Garde energy that has flowed throughout the department since the 1970s and started to view filmmaking more as a means of self expression than a overly produced method of telling fictional stories. I graduated from Binghamton in 2008 with a B.S. in Human Development and a B.A. in Cinema. Hoping to continue my work with self exploration and to set myself up to teach professionally I started my M.F.A. in Media Arts Production at University at Buffalo and am slated to graduate in May of 2010.

During the summer of 2009 I let my nerdy passions turn academic as I designed and taught a class entitled Graphic Novels And Film at University At Buffalo with my friend and colleague Michael Reiff. Mostly recently I’ve been hired as a Digital Photography and Video Production teacher at Washington Academy, a private high school in East Machias, ME.

When I’m not running around like a child lost in a department store I’m reading and writing comic books, writing film reviews for the Post-Standard newspaper in Syracuse, NY, playing retro video games, moshing at punk and hardcore shows, drinking moxie, and occasionally working on film and video pieces.
